Behind the Garage Doors

The garage doors of the Muay Thai gym on 4 Pery Street, Limerick, attract many passers-by. Since July 2009 when Robert Ng established the Muay Thai Kickboxing gym, first fighters from Limerick have gained success on the international stage and invest all of their extra time in the trainings – just a year after the launch Liam Mc Gill won his fight by 2nd round in Petchbuncha stadium Koh Samui, Thailand.

Having fought in Hong Kong and Thailand on numerous occasions, Robert Ng has some experience and considers Muay Thai his vocation. His mission is to pass to his disciples what he calls ‘the science of 8 limbs’ – rich tradition of Muay Thai’s strength of will and mind.

Being the place of the highest murder rate in Europe Limerick with one Hunt Museum and two little galleries does not seem to have many attractions to offer to the youth who engage in miscellaneous activities and behaviours.
